Get your API key and connect

The server lives at https://kissmypost.com/api/mcp and authenticates with your personal API key. Create the key below, then paste the configuration for your client. Your key is filled in automatically.

Checking your account…

Claude Code

Run in your terminal:

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http kissmypost https://kissmypost.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer kmp_YOUR_API_KEY"

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project):

mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kissmypost": {
      "url": "https://kissmypost.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer kmp_YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop

Settings → Developer → Edit Config, add the server to claude_desktop_config.json and restart Claude. Needs Node.js (it runs the mcp-remote bridge).

claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kissmypost": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://kissmypost.com/api/mcp",
        "--header",

      ],
      "env": {
        "KMP_AUTH": "Bearer kmp_YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

FAQ

What is the KissMyPost MCP server?

A remote Model Context Protocol server at https://kissmypost.com/api/mcp. AI assistants that support MCP, such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor, can call it to look up subreddit statistics, the best time to post, similar subreddits and brand mentions on Reddit.

Is it free?

Any KissMyPost account can create an API key. Without a plan you get 3 different subreddits, brands or searches per day. Paid plans get 50 per day and the similar_subreddits tool. Asking about the same subreddit again the same day does not count twice.

Does similar_subreddits cost kisses?

It uses the same unlock as the subreddit report on the website: the first time you open a subreddit it costs kisses from your plan, and the subreddit stays unlocked for 30 days, in the app and in MCP.

Does it work with ChatGPT or claude.ai connectors?

Not yet. Those connectors sign in with OAuth, and the KissMyPost server uses an API key for now. Claude Code, Claude Desktop (through mcp-remote) and Cursor work today.

What data does it return?

Aggregated monthly statistics from public Reddit activity, the same numbers as the public subreddit and brand pages on KissMyPost. It does not return post or comment texts, usernames or raw tables, and it skips NSFW communities.

How do I keep my API key safe?

Treat it like a password. It is shown once; we store only a hash. If it leaks, create a new key on this page: the old one stops working within a minute.
