Reddit audience research across a whole set of subreddits

Audiences is the Reddit audience research tool in KissMyPost for founders, agencies and researchers who work with a group of subreddits rather than one. Save the group as an audience and read it as a whole: who writes there (age, gender, country, job), how it grows, what it talks about, and its posts sorted into pain, solution requests, feature requests, alternatives and self-promotion.

Included in every plan. $1 for the first 24 hours, then the plan's full monthly price. Cancel anytime in one click.

What you can do

What Audiences does

  1. Prepared audiences

199 ready-made audiences in 30 categories, each shown with its Similar audiences. Select the subreddits you want from one and Save as new audience to make it your own.

  2. Import

Paste subreddit names, r/ links or URLs, or upload a CSV, TSV, JSON or TXT file. Coming from GummySearch? Upload its export. A column with audience names splits one file into up to 200 audiences, and any subreddit we can't match is listed for you.

  3. Who writes here

Age, gender, country, jobs and intent across the whole audience, each estimate flagged by how reliable it is, next to growth, activity, monthly peaks and the topics it covers.

  4. Conversations

Posts from your audience in five lanes: Solution-seeking, Pain & complaints, Feature requests, Seeking alternatives and Self-promotion. Up to 50 posts per lane, from July 2023 on, filtered by text, score, comments, post type and subreddit.

  5. My account

Enter your account's age and comment karma to see which subreddits in the audience would accept a post from it.

  6. Analyze in Find Subs

Open the audience in Find Subs to filter inside it by who writes there, or use Find more like these to grow it with similar subreddits.

How it works

How Audiences works

  1. Make the set yours

Save subreddits from a prepared audience, add them from Find Subs with + Add, or import the list you already keep.

  2. Read the people

Who writes here shows the age, gender, country and jobs of the authors across every subreddit in the set.

  3. Read the posts

Conversations shows what those people ask for, complain about and compare, with a link to each thread on Reddit.

Who it's for

Who uses Audiences

Founders sizing up a market

Check whether the people they want to sell to write on Reddit at all, and what those people complain about.

Agencies running Reddit for clients

Keep one audience per client and know its people and its open questions before proposing a single post.

Product marketers and researchers

Pull the solution requests and alternative-seeking posts of a segment to hear how it describes the problem.

Honest limits

What Audiences doesn't do

Here is what it won't do, so you know before you start.

  • No keyword alerts: nothing watches an audience in the background.
  • No CSV export and no public link for sharing an audience.
  • Conversations holds posts, not comments, and doesn't search for a phrase inside the audience. Historical search covers phrases across all of Reddit back to 2005.
  • No summaries written by a model. You read the posts themselves.
  • Prepared audiences show who writes there but have no Conversations. Save their subreddits as your own audience first.

FAQ

Audiences: common questions

What is Reddit audience research?

It means finding out who writes in a group of subreddits and what they say before you post, build or advertise there. In KissMyPost that group is an audience: you see its authors' age, gender, country and jobs, and its posts sorted by intent.

How do I see the demographics of a Reddit audience?

Open the audience and read Who writes here: age, gender, country and jobs of the people who post and comment across its subreddits. Each estimate carries a reliability flag, because it is measured from the authors who write there, not from subscriber lists.

Can I import my GummySearch audiences?

Yes. In Audiences choose Import, then upload the GummySearch export file or paste the subreddit names. A column with audience names turns one file into several audiences, up to 200 at once.

How many subreddits can one audience hold?

Up to 2,000. For scale, the prepared audiences have a median of 198 subreddits each.

Does Audiences send keyword alerts?

No, nothing runs in the background. To catch fresh threads in an audience, open Reply Radar on it while you work.

Is there a free Reddit audience research tool?

Audiences needs an account: it is included in every KissMyPost plan, and plans differ by how many kisses (credits) come with them. You can try any plan for a day, and Playground stays free without an account.

Try Audiences on any plan.

Treat a group of subreddits as one audience: who writes there, what they talk about, what they ask for.
