What is a crosspost on Reddit?

A crosspost is a Reddit post that republishes an existing post in another subreddit, with a link back to the original. The original keeps its author, and the crosspost has its own score and comments in its new community.

of 2025 posts were crossposts

2.5% of all posts were crossposted at least once into another subreddit.

Source: KissMyPost, all Reddit posts and comments created in 2025: 494.3 million posts and 3.86 billion comments.

Crossposting takes a few clicks from the Share menu. The new copy shows the source subreddit and title, and comments stay separate: a discussion in one place does not appear in the other.

Some subreddits forbid crossposts or require the original to be recent. Posting the same content in many places can also look like spam, so check each community's rules first.

Crossposts are a modest part of Reddit, and few original posts ever travel.
